Departments
Basic instruction is provided to all students in a variety of areas, including welding, carpentry, smithy, sheet metal, fitting, casting, and plumbing.
Students have a great opportunity to become acquainted with and gain practical experience with machine tools such as machines for drilling, milling, shaping, lathes, cylindrical and surface grinding, and more.
The study of fundamental concepts related to metrology, instrumentation, and metallographic testing is part of the Mechanical Engineering lab. Excellent facilities are offered to the students to help them comprehend the value of precision equipment, their concepts, and how to operate and use different measuring procedures. The lab is well furnished with equipment such as polishing machines, autocollimators, and tool maker's microscopes.
The objective of the laboratory is to provide students with hands-on experience and a practical understanding of different heat transfer methods, along with conducting experimental tests to enhance their comprehension of thermal engineering concepts. The lab is equipped with various test setups for studying topics such as composite wall principles, natural and forced convection, heat exchangers, compressors, blowers, and more.
Fluid Mechanics is a fundamental discipline within Mechanical Engineering. The laboratory provides students with the opportunity to explore key principles of Fluid Mechanics and understand their practical applications through a well-equipped facility. Hydraulic Machines represent another vital area, focusing on the operation and applications of various types of hydraulic machinery across different engineering fields. The lab features turbines used in hydroelectric power generation and pumps employed in diverse practical scenarios, offering students hands-on experience with these equipment. Notable test setups available in the lab include Venturimeters, Orifice meters, Pumps, and Turbines. Additionally, the lab displays cut models of reciprocating pumps, various impellers, different runners and guide vanes, as well as pipe fittings and joints.
The laboratory is designed to offer students practical experience with the operation of different heat engines. It is well-equipped with single and multi-cylinder engines, MPFI engines, and various experimental setups to measure liquid viscosity, fuel calorific value, and other properties.
The CAD lab is dedicated to fostering students' skills in computer-aided design and drafting. It is equipped with the latest CAD software tools that allow students to create, modify, analyze, and optimize detailed 2D drawings and 3D models. The lab provides a practical environment for learning design principles, drafting standards, and visualization techniques, enabling students to develop accurate and efficient digital designs for engineering and manufacturing applications.
The CNC lab is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in computer numerical control machining. It is equipped with advanced CNC machines, including milling and turning centers, to facilitate the learning of programming, operation, and maintenance of CNC equipment. The lab enables students to develop skills in CAD/CAM integration, tool setup, and precision manufacturing, preparing them for industry requirements in automated manufacturing processes.
