Established in the year 2002, the Department of Civil Engineering has, as its main function to conduct the undergraduate programmes in the field of Civil Engineering. In the pursuit of excellence, the Department of Civil Engineering lays claim to the legacy of innovative and user friendly technologies, sharpening and redefining the principles of construction. Availability of trained manpower has facilitated the Department to play a key role in the field of consultancy, research and training for the present day needs of the entire Civil Engineering industry. Students graduating from this Department have carved out a place for themselves in different institutions and reputed establishments, the world over.

     The labs of the Department of Civil Engineering are also equipped with the most modern machineries. Furnished with the latest state of the art technology, these labs symbolize the excellence of the Faculty and Students alike, about the need for innovative and friendly technologies, which is the need of the hour. The focus of the Department is laid to the core areas of Civil Engineering, like Structural engineering, Geotechnical engineering, Transportation engineering, Water resources and Hydraulics engineering, Environmental engineering, Advanced Surveying and the modern Computer aided Design and Analysis of Civil Engineering structures with an aim to bring out a bunch of dynamic and innovative Engineers for the development of the upcoming construction technologies.

PROGRAMMES

• B.Tech. Civil Engineering

  Eligibility for admission: - Candidates with a pass in the Plus – Two Examination of Kerala Higher Secondary Board or its equivalent with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto, securing a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together are eligible for admission. Presently the Dept: offers Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) course in Civil Engineering with an annual intake capacity of 60. The department has been always attracting quality students through the Common Entrance Examination conducted by the Government of Kerala. Those who want to get admission under the Management quota should apply to the management and qualify the Engineering entrance examination conducted by Commissioner of Entrance Examination; Government of Kerala.




• M.Tech. Structural Engineering

  The M.Tech degree Course is for two years comprises of four semesters. Eligibility for admission to M.Tech programme is a ‘pass’ in the B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communication or Applied Electronics and Instrumentation with 60% marks of any University recognized by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala. Dept: offers Master of Technology (M.Tech) with an annual intake of 18. Credit system is adopted for the course. Grade point average is calculated on the basis of all courses taken by the student. The department offers a syllabus covering the major thrust areas in the field of Structural Engineering.
